What Enabled an Elder Approaching 90 to Surpass the Asian Strongman Champion?

I was astounded after reading the Asian Journal report, Authentic Buddha Dharma that is Irrefutable and Scientifically Incontrovertible. The account of Elder Kaichu Rinpoche (disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III) deeply impressed me and sparked a profound sense of curiosity.

According to the report, Elder Kaichu was nearly 90 years old at the time and weighed only 178 pounds. Yet, during the “Lifting the Pestle onto the Platform” demonstration, he surpassed the performance of Lv Xiao, the Asian Strongman Champion. Lv Xiao, who was 36 years old and weighed approximately 350 pounds, had undergone years of professional strength training and represented China at the 2014 Asian Strongman competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he emerged as the champion among competitors from seven countries.

In contrast, Elder Kaichu (disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III) had never engaged in strength training. His daily practice consisted solely of learning and cultivating according to Buddha Dharma. Despite the significant differences in age, body weight, and physical conditioning, Elder Kaichu achieved a result that many strongmen have since attempted but have been unable to match. To this day, no one has matched Elder Kaichu’s achievement of reaching Level 26 in the Vajra Pestle lifting test.

Kaichu Jiaozun (disciple of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III) lifted a Pestle at a weight 26 levels above his base weight standard.

These facts led me to ask a simple question: How could a man approaching 90 years of age, with no history of strength training, outperform the strongest man in Asia?

The report provides Elder Kaichu’s own explanation. He stated:

“The reason I am able to accomplish both Tummo and Vajra Dharma is that I have learned true Buddha Dharma transmitted by His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III. As a result, my physical body, bones, and tendons have transformed from ordinary to holy. I used to be very weak and sickly. I had stomach disease, diabetes, knee problems, gout, and was so weak that I couldn’t even lift 10 pounds. All my illnesses have now vanished.”

Reading these words left me in amazement. According to Elder Kaichu, the source of his transformation was neither extraordinary athletic ability nor specialized physical training, but rather his diligent practice of the authentic Buddha Dharma transmitted by H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. The report describes a remarkable journey—from a weak and chronically ill individual to someone capable of demonstrating accomplishments that continue to inspire curiosity and discussion.

Elder Kaichu’s story has caused me to reflect more deeply on the meaning of authentic Buddhist practice. If true Buddha Dharma has the ability to transform a person’s body and mind, elevate one’s wisdom and character, and bring about such extraordinary changes, then it is not merely an abstract theory or a philosophical system, nor is it a set of religious teachings confined to words alone. Rather, it is a profound path of cultivation that genuinely benefits sentient beings and leads them toward liberation.

After reading this report, I am filled with admiration and gratitude. It has strengthened my conviction that true Buddha Dharma is not merely an empty theory. Rather, it is a profound path of cultivation that, through sincere practice, has the potential to bring blessings, wisdom, and ultimately liberation to sentient beings.

  1. A 90-year-old, Elder Kaichu, who weigh only 178 pounds, surprisingly surpassed the 36-year-old Asian strongman champion in the “Vajra Pestle Lefing Test”. This also demonstrates the greatness of Buddhism!
